This is a quick public service announcement to let you know that Vine Lines Quilting is changing very soon, but definitely for the better! Since I started my blog just over a year ago, I’ve been using a free WordPress hosted blog. This has been great whilst it was simply a platform for showing off my quilts and chatting about stuff. However, now that I’ve decided that I want my blog to become a greater form of communication and in the medium term a form of income, I’ve realised I need more control over my blog, thus a better platform.
I’ve therefore decided to make the jump to a self-hosted WordPress blog. The only change at the moment from my point of view is that I’m paying for web hosting. It’s not expensive and because I’m a registered business, it’s a claimable business expense.
For you, Dear Reader, it may mean that over the next couple of days/week or so there may be a break in transmission. If you jump onto the blog and get a message to say there’s nobody home, do not fret, Dear Reader, I am working madly behind the scenes and will be back within a day or two. The most it will mean to you at the moment is a new email address (but not until the transfer is complete).
I have plans to overhaul the design of the blog over the next couple of months and add some fun functionalities to serve you better and will let you know as that happens.
I have ordered some new business cards with the new details on them; it’s all a bit exciting really.
In the meantime, if you’re a blogger who is interested in all the different ways to host your blog, I recommend Gnomeangel’s recent post, part of her “Lessons in Blogging” series. And if you are a quilter who is also a blogger or Instagrammer and you would like to meet some fellow bloggers/IGers, why not join the Quilty Bloggers and Instagrammers Support Facebook Group? It’s a great place to ask questions, receive support and network with quilty bloggers from around the world.
A big thank you also to James Tew of The Social Media Revolution and Charly Leetham of Ask Charly Leetham, both of whom have been generous with their time and knowledge in helping with this migration and my Virtual Assistant website. Vine Lines Administration.
Until next time, happy quilting. 🙂
