A couple of weeks ago I introduced you to Rachael of Sew Today, Clean Tomorrow. Rachael is one of those girls who I can’t remember how I first ‘met’ her. I came across her blog sometime last year I think and liked her style and her sense of humour so decided to follow her blog/IG page/FB page. You might remember I interviewed her a couple of weeks ago as part of the QAL.
Earlier this year when I posted on Instagram asking for bloggers to join me in the Aussie Aviatrix Quilt-a-long, Rachael put her hand up and volunteered, as did Debra of Stitching Rules. Debra is relatively new to quilting but is a very experienced seamstress. Her website is full of fantastic sewing tricks and tips; I’ll be featuring Debra in an interview next week so you’ll get to know more about her very soon.
One of Rachael’s projects is a Facebook Group comprising readers of her blog. A lot of the quilters have completed her Beginner Quilt-a-Long and it is a really supportive group where everyone is free to ask questions about anything quilting and sewing-related.
Jumping to the purpose of this post – Rachael approached Debra and I to ask if we would be interested in joining the group and inviting our members to do likewise. We were both very excited to do so.
I love the way collaborations of this sort just ‘happen’ from meeting fellow quilters online. Rachael, Debra and I don’t live anywhere near each other so may never have met had it not been for this wonderful thing called the Internet. It’s a great example of how you can meet people with similar interests, decide that you think you might like to work with each other and go for it. They have encouraged me to push myself creatively and ‘think outside the box’ and I’m really looking forward to what 2015 might bring.
So, Dear Reader, if you are a reader of my blog and a quilter who would like to belong to a supportive group of fellow quilters and sew-people (what is the proper noun for someone who sews anyway?), I would love you to come and join us over at Facebook. The three of us are hard at work on an exciting sew-a-long that’s launching next week and we also have some fantastic plans for 2015.
What about you – have you made any fun collaborations/working relationships that started online? I’d love to hear about them.
Until next time, happy quilting. 🙂
