A while back I bought this great log roll; it's Rosalie Quinlan's Nellie Hill from Ella Blue. I realised pretty much straight away that I wanted to do a granny square pattern; the colours and querky design lend themselves perfectly to it I think. I've seen a few different granny square quilt patterns. I really like them because I love crochet granny squares but I cannot for the life of me do crochet. I am quite the knitter but can't handle having a needle/hook in only one hand. I found the pattern below on the Moda Bake Shop website.
I wanted to start straight away, and keeping in mind that the appropriate number of WIPs is n+1, I did. The beauty of this pattern is that you are making two blocks in one. I'm altering it slightly because the pattern calls for 20 strips and the Ella Blue log rolls are 24 strips so mine will be a bit bigger.
I only made the first two blocks and then put this one away for a while because I have some more pressing projects, but I really love the way it's turned out and I'm looking forward to coming back to it.
