How did your grey squares go? I love that there is an easy border in between the tricky ones. I have been performing major surgery on my Medallion - photos to follow.
Today we're meeting Leanne from Daisy and Jack. She's also using slightly muted colours which I love. She's given some very good tips about how to get these blocks just right so please go and have a look at her post after you get to know here here.

1. Tell us a bit about you?
I’m a proud Tasmanian who lives in country NSW! I have a sweet little dog called Pippi. I work full-time and according to my friends I’m obsessed by quilting. Before I got bitten by the quilting bug I made cloth dolls and teddy bears – I also used to do embroidery!
2. When did you start quilting?
I made my first quilt block, which is now a mini quilt, in 1994 – it’s a churn dash and I cut it out using templates and sewed it together by hand – I decided I didn’t want to make any more as it took way too long! In 1999 I made a small applique quilt that I loved and then made stitcheries and other little quilt projects over the years!
3. Tell us about your first quilt?
My first “big” quilt was an hourglass quilt – I saw the pattern in Quilter’s Companion - its machine sewn and tie quilted and I used fabrics that I already had – obviously not a bit stash and I’m not sure I have any of those fabrics anymore ! I’d bought a polyester batting to quilt it and when I took it with me on a family visit so that my mum could help me quilt it she put my batting in the bin and gave me some cotton batting that she said would be easier to deal with!
4. What’s your favourite part of the quilt-making process?
Buying the fabric! Well really, I like all of it - from deciding what fabrics to use to cutting and sewing the pieces and I really love seeing the finished top!
5. What project are you currently working on?
Of course I’m currently making the Aviatrix quilt and I’ve also got a few swaps and bee blocks due in the next few weeks – in my spare time I’m hand quilting a double wedding ring quilt!
6. When did you start blogging?
I started blogging in 2010 to keep a record of my makes and also as an easy way to share my quilting with my mum and family who all live in Queensland.
7. What do you love about blogging?
I love being part of the quilting community online – I’ve made some fabulous online friends through my blog and I also love to be able to look back and see how much I’ve made when I think I haven’t done anything!
8. What’s next for you – where do you see yourself in two/five/ten years’ time (whichever you feel like answering)?
Gee I hope to be still happily quilting – of course I’d love to give up my day job so I could quilt all day but I can’t see that happening anytime soon!
